BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Board of Directors, consisting of 7 elected positions (including one representative from each chapter) and 5 appointed positions, manage several essential functions of the organization. The Board oversees the annual meeting, is the liaison between the National Association and other professional organizations, and manages the organization’s budget.
Executive Members are elected by membership, and with the exception of the President, serve for a term of 2 years. The President serves one year as President-Elect, one year as President, and one year as Past President. Elections are held annually in October, with 2 positions up for election each year. Executive Members may serve no more than 2 consecutive terms in a single position.
Committee Chairs are ex-officio members of the Board and are appointed by the President and President Elect for a term of 2 years. Committee Chairs are responsible for functions ranging from annual review of association bylaws, and disbursement of association scholarship money, to the strategic planning of WAMSS. Similar to Executive Members, Committee Chairs may serve no more than 2 consecutive terms. While not voting members of the Board, Committee Chairs serve a critical and essential role when determining the current and future path of WAMSS.
