Conference Cancellation 2020

[ssba]

Dear WAMSS Members:

As you know, our group is on the frontlines of the healthcare industry, considered the “Gatekeepers of Patient Safety.” As the COVID-19 pandemic increases, we have been closely monitoring what we, as an organization, need to do to ensure the safety of our members, speakers, and guests.

We have just completed an emergency board and conference planning meeting to discuss the status of our April conference. Many of the healthcare organizations have canceled/banned travel for staff, and we are concerned that multiple cancellations have removed our ability to fund our conference. I know that you have all been touched by this pandemic as well.

We are evaluating options to broadcast the conference via Webex. If possible, we would like to stay with our initially scheduled dates to make this a successful transition to enable us to offer the continuing education credits that are required for certifications as well as keeping our lead in industry knowledge.

We are reaching out to our speakers this week and are trying to move quickly to see if this is feasible; we have several presenters that have already offered this option.  If you would please hold off on requesting any refunds at this time, it would be greatly appreciated.

Alderbrook Resort has been very accommodating for this emergent situation; they are cancelling rooms so our guests don’t have to take the time to do this and I would certainly recommend their facility as a first class resort, in both facility and staffing.

We want to ensure this is a high-quality opportunity for our attendees and are working hard to find an alternative educational opportunity.

Please stay tuned, and we are working together to create an alternative for the WAMSS 41st Annual Education Conference.

Best,

Your WAMSS Board of Directors
