SUPERVISOR OF MEDICAL STAFF SERVICES

Job Description:

The Credentialing Supervisor provides guidance for Medical Staff Credentialing accreditation/regulation compliance and oversees credentialing accreditation readiness:

Manages a staff of three with the day to day activities of the Medical Staff Office.

Provide expertise to VMC clinical and administrative departments conducting credentialing activities.

Manages the credentialing program to maximize timely appointment of qualified applicants for medical staff and/or privileges or reappraisal/renewal in compliance with all aspects of accreditation standards, federal and state laws and regulations, and VMC requirements.

Manages aggregate primary source verifications and other key indicators such as clinical quality, malpractice history, disciplinary actions, etc. for use in decision-making.

Participates in meetings of various committees, task forces and ad hoc groups including but not limited to the Credentials Committee and the Medical Executive Committee.

Manage the centralized medical staff/credentials database with emphasis on its integrity and functionality.

Partner with IS team members to ensure appropriate interfacing and integration, maintenance and upgrades/enhancements, roll out of new products, and ongoing implementation of systems for MSO and other department needs.

Design MSO system reports and other services to meet customer information needs.

Prerequisites:

Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) certification or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or equivalent experience. If not certified, must obtain certification within one year of employment.

Extensive knowledge of hospital organizations, medical staff operations, policies, rules and regulations, regulatory agency guidelines and standards, as normally demonstrated through a minimum of 5 years experience in a medical staff services setting.

Supervisory experience, preferably in a medical staff services setting.

Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, HealthLine systems or comparable medical staff software, and Medikinetics software.

Experience interacting with physicians in highly sensitive situations.

Establishes effective collaborative relationships with Medical Staff leaders

The applicant must have the ability to work independently with initiative and offer true support in an advisory role in credentialing, education and compliance.
